Abstract: Based on the data of CGSS in 2008，2012，2015 and 2017，this paper examines the impact of individuals pension and medical insurance participation on their social status perception The results show that in recent years，Chinas social insurance system has continuously expanded its coverage，and the participation of social medical and pension insurance has gradually begun to exert a significant positive impact on social status perception The participation of commercial medical and pension insurance has also played a positive role The robustness test by propensity score matching method supports this conclusion The social security system is an highly important part of stable and effective governance The government should continue to improve the social security system covering the whole people，promote its highquality and sustainable development，gradually eliminate the consequence of social stratification in the social insurance system，and enhance their sense of acquisition
